TRIP summary
We travel light with a support vehicle joining us at the end of each day and on the route, where possible. Although lodgings are limited due to the remote areas, you’ll be surprised by their hospitality and comforts.
We'll head north and leave the slopes of Table Mountain behind us with an easy ride through the Cape Winelands. We cross into the Tankwa-Karoo National Park where a special tented camp awaits. Next is the Northern Cape up to the Orange River where we'll stay at a guest house on the largest date farm in the southern hemisphere. Our guide from there is the Orange (Gariep) River along challenging sand and rocky tracks to the beginning of the Richtersveld National Park. Expect not to see another person on most of this route.
An old world country hotel awaits as we head for the west coast with 150km of tough sandy two track. We finally head south through Cederberg and end up back to Cape Town to our journey’s end.
